About AACA

Over five decades of community, advocacy, and building a stronger Bay Area — together.

Founded in 1975, Built to Last

The Asian American Contractors Association was established in 1975 with a clear purpose: to support the Asian construction community in the San Francisco Bay Area. In a time when Asian American contractors faced significant barriers to business development, government contracting, and professional recognition, AACA was founded to change that reality.

For over 50 years, we have served as the voice, resource, and community for Asian American contractors and construction professionals. We have advocated for our members before city, county, and state officials; organized educational workshops on licensing, compliance, and business development; and built a network that spans every trade and specialty in the Bay Area construction industry.

Today, AACA remains Bay Area's longest-running association serving the Asian construction community. Membership is open to all interested members of the construction community in the San Francisco Bay Area — regardless of background, trade, or company size.

Three Pillars of Our Work

Everything AACA does falls under one of three areas: helping members grow their businesses, representing their interests to government, and helping them stay compliant.

Business Development

We help members successfully develop their individual businesses through peer networking, referral opportunities, and access to the Bay Area's most connected Asian contractor community. From first-time contractors to established firms, AACA provides the relationships that drive growth.

Government & Advocacy

AACA gives members a collective voice before their elected representatives. We engage with city, county, and state officials on issues that matter to the construction community — from public works contracting access to minority business programs, licensing policy, and more.

Regulatory Compliance

The construction industry is one of the most regulated in California. AACA helps members understand and comply with governmental regulations and requirements — from CSLB licensing and prevailing wage to Cal/OSHA safety standards and DBE certification requirements.

Board of Directors

Our volunteer board of directors is made up of experienced Bay Area construction professionals dedicated to serving the AACA community.
